IS CERTIFICATION FOR ME?

If you work directly with crime victims' and survivors, then certification is for you! Over the past few years there has been a growing interest in developing standards and a certification program for those who provide direct victim service. Thanks to a unique collaboration with the Crime Victims' Assistance Network and the Oregon State Victim Assistance Academy (SVAA), and with the help of a federal grant, this is now a reality.

If you or your agency receives grant funding from the Oregon Department
of Justice Certification is required.

who provide direct services to crime victims and survivors; and

_ Is grounded in sound ethical standards that have been developed by
peers.

OTHER BENEFITS

_ Four transferable Community College credits are available upon
completion of the SVAA for a fee of $40 to Clackamas Community
College.

_ Development of a higher education degree in victim service is currently
being explored.

_ In the future, CVAN's goal is to offer training that will allow victim service
providers to specialize in areas such as victims' of child abuse, domestic
violence, drunk or drugged driving, and others. Management and other
advanced courses are also being explored.
